Catching Up

It’s been over a month since my last post. Whoops! I have been so super busy. And tired, very tired.
At work we have been slammed with clients and customers in the store! We have done many consultations, large and small.
Let me just say I am SO EXCITED about an addition we are starting!! The house itself is nice but the layout is ~kind of crazy~ We are adding on a mud room, laundry room, home office, and an outdoor patio!! My boss and I are working on this together so we have had a lot of fun!
I am beginning the ordering process for another client of my OWN! This is a guest room I have been working on and am thrilled to see it come to fruition! I know what it will look like, obviously, but it means a lot to say I’ve completed my first job!

We have also gotten so many beautiful pieces in the store lately! This pair of chairs is one of my absolute favorites

We also just got these frames in! They are so pretty and make great gift!

Switching gears~ Brett and I went with a group of friends to Asheville on a brewery tour and loved it! Brett definitely enjoys craft beer, I’m a little more hesitant but do enjoy some of it! Anyway, before we ever moved to Jackson we saw there was going to be a craft beer bar opening here. We have been watching the progress of this place, it’s called Fondren Public. IT JUST OPENED! It is the most awesome place! Gorgeous inside and lots of craft beers on tap and bottled. And many of the beers are from local breweries! Which makes us love this place even more! They have a shuffle board room and 2 bocce ball courts! It is like the best place to be in Jackson!

That was a super fast and not very detailed explanation of my month but I’ve got a lot of work to do still!
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend & week!

Patience, my friend!

I know, I know! It’s a little while since my last post, however, these last 2 weeks have been busy! First things first, my sweet family came to visit and we had a blast!  They got the grand tour of Jackson in a single day! That tour entailed seeing the sweet town of Wesson in the day light, touring the Capitol Building & shopping at the Renaissance!

When we first got to the Capitol Building they informed us there was a press conference going on and of course there was no way we were going to miss that!  This was the unveiling of a new gun manufacturing company, located in MS! As we were waiting for the press conference to start we saw the Speaker of the House and the Secretary of State.  I had just gotten out of my mouth “I wonder if the Governor will be here?” when I turned around and almost ran right into the Governor himself! After the unveiling Governor Phil Bryant came back upstairs (where we were!) and spoke with us!  We got to chat design (his son is an architect at a local firm!) and Law School.  He used to teach some classes and MC Law, where Brett goes.  I have heard many great things about him since we moved here but it’s even better when you get to find out first hand that he really is a genuinely nice person.

After touring the Capitol we drove to Madison so everyone could see where I work! After a quick look around the store and a potty break we headed south to the Renaissance shopping center!  Here’s the link if you want to check out this glorious place for yourself!

After some shopping, Starbucks was a must to make it back to Wesson, MS.  Brett’s family is from the little town of Wesson. There’s not much to do there, but man is it precious! Maybe because that is where my ~soon to be family~ is!

Switching gears, my design world has been booming! We have ordered fabric for the play room and everything is a go! We also had another meeting with the Livingston group to nail down pricing and catch up on any changes.  Construction has started and will be completed before we blink! Pray everything goes smoothly (though nothing EVER goes as planned).

That’s something I am learning QUICKLY about design.  That nothing goes as silky smooth as we want it to.  Something is always discontinued or backordered.  Or you can never get a hold of the person you need to speak with!  Being available and flexible in this career is a must! And thankfully I’ve experienced things in my life (mission trips, volunteer work, etc) that have taught me to go with the flow! This verse helps to remind me to be patient when I could easily become angry

And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 2 Timothy 2:24

I hope a great week is in store for you all and thanks for keeping up with me!

The most productive day of the week.

According to a survey from Accountemps, Tuesday is the most productive day of the week. Seems Legit.

Anyway, This is going to be a super busy week! Monday was only the beginning! We had a looong appointment in the morning that was discussing Livingston Mercantile and a teenage girls bedroom. It’s going to be just precious! Later in the day I was able to get out of the store and head to The Linen Shop. I was picking up fabric for a client and picking out fabric for another client! I am designing a little girl’s playroom and it is coming along great. I am having a blast!

Here’s a little sneak peek!

I will definitely have pictures when we finish up!

On Saturday Brett and I went to Wesson to visit his sweet grandparents! AND MY MOMMA AND SWEET FAMILY WILL BE HERE WEDNESDAY!!! I am beyond excited to see them and spend time with them!! I have a lot planned so I hope they’re ready!
I will keep you updated on all the fun activities we do (with pictures, of course) because I know It’s going to be a blast! Thanks for reading ya’ll!

Lighting Love!

Wednesday! Yes!! And I’m off Thursday! I think I will make it through the week! Anyway so yesterday was kind of slow in the store which makes for a long~ish afternoon but gives me a chance to catch up on all my design work! We are really slammed with clients (and I’m not complaining at all!) and are only gaining more!
Right now we are putting the finishing touches on a commercial project! It’s a mercantile store (in the country!) and will have a gas station, grocery store, deli, coffee shop, and retail space! The design was completed before I started but I’m experiencing the ordering and construction process from start to finish! I will definitely have pictures once we start installing all the good stuff! The décor is rustic with a modern twist! If you can imagine it, I’m sure the finished project will be NOTHING like you had in mind! There is some fun stuff going on, that’s for sure! We also got in a couple pairs of sconces today that are TO DIE FOR! Oh my, they are just so gorgeous.

There may or may not have been a discussion about using this masterpiece in my wedding 😉

And it’s actually Thursday which I am thrilled about, because my love and I have planned a downtown lunch! Since I never make it downtown during lunch time and miss out on all the good food, you could say I’m a little excited!!!!

Welcome!!

Hey Guys!

Thanks for following my new blog! I’m really excited about it.  And yes I am still getting used to how this whole thing goes. So if you have any suggestions just let me know!

I decided to start blogging because I am 12 hours from home and want people who know me to be able to stay with me and somewhat experience what my days are like as an INTERIOR DESIGNER! I know, that sounds so “Grown up”.  And is all I have wanted for a really long time! and now it’s here, and I don’t feel like I should be this “old” haha. Anyway this is just a little tid bit about my new blogging fun! I will try to post a little something every day but we all know how life can get a little hectic, so don’t shoot me if I miss a few!

I want this to be a look into my designer world and all things that go along with that! Like, crazy clients, new pieces in the store, new discoveries for me as a new designer and whatever else life throws my way!

So please be patient as I get things up and rolling!
